My artist statement
I have always liked seeing a variety between different photographers work and how much the images contrast each other. When I take photographs I feel happy and I am always anticipating what the result will be like and whether it will be good enough that I would be happy with it. I do not currently feel like I have a particular focus that guides me to make the photographic choices that I do, at the moment I suppose I am currently experimenting to try to find one focus. I suppose my favourite things to photograph at the moment are of the landscape, I love how it always looks different at any time of the day to any time of the year. It always reminds me of how beautiful the world is and all of the spectacular views there are in life that I have not yet seen in all different locations around the world. After going to the Barbican gallery I have decided that I definitely want to take pictures in colour as I prefer that to black and white, I find it more effective being in colour like I found out from when I saw the images that Stephen Shore took- my favourite photographer from the Barbican gallery.
One of the ideas that I have is that I would take a picture of the same street at three different times a day then move onto a different street and photograph again from the same angles at the same place until I have lots of collections of three pictures from different streets. Another idea was that I was to take pictures of all the different architecture in different areas to signify the change in architecture over time. However, I think my best idea is to photograph different landscapes- not necessarily natural landscapes but also city landscapes. I love architecture and the city landscapes can really show that. I like to photograph everyday objects that are sometimes not recognised and I also like working with architecture and basic living elements like heat, light and especially water.

my project plan
The plan that I have for my mini project is that it is going to be a series of images in colour. I also think they should be square and not rectangular as it is a bit different to normal images. I know that I definitely do not want to take any pictures in the form of portraits- I would prefer to focus more on landscapes. This could be urban landscapes or rural landscapes which shows a bit of contrast between the two types of images that I may potentially be photographing. These images could be taken from ground level or from the peak of a mountain or from a building- this would give all different types of effects. I am particularly interested in photographing landscapes in urban areas and focusing on the architecture of the buildings and area as I am very interested in them and also the different art movements that may be associated with them for example in Miami there is a vast amount of buildings that are to do with the art deco movement. These interested me as I like how they had been updated and re-painted but still looked original and how they should look.
- First idea: landscapes of different areas= not a good idea as I would need to be quite high up to get good landscape views which is quite difficult in London unless you are in a helicopter which I can't do...
My best idea at the moment seems to be of something in the form of a typology, it will be me photographing different streets around the area in which I live these images may all be in different weather conditions). This will show the various different architecture and environment in my area. I may expand the region to about a 5-10 minute drive radius around my house and only photograph roads that have completely different architecture on them. This will show how within a few miles radius there is such an immense difference in architecture.
-Second idea: sunsets= however this can't be done as the deadline is too short and it is very difficult to take pictures of enough sunsets that are breath taking and in a good settings that are all different from the area that I live in whilst the sky is not cloudy as that would mean you can not actually see the sun setting.
Those were the reasons why this idea was not feasible and could not be used as my project which is a bit annoying as I really love photographing sunsets but there is nothing I can do about it.
